Individual therapy

A space of your own, in your language

For adults who carry a lot and are tired of translating it all.

  • You choose the language

You can move from Spanish to English in the middle of a sentence. No one corrects you here.

  • You set the pace with your therapist

We do not promise a number of sessions. You talk about what you want, when you want.

  • Your information is kept private

We keep your records private and share them only as the law allows.

What it is like

What it is like, in six points

  • Who it helps

Adults who want to talk about what they feel, what they left behind and what they are starting, in Spanish or English.

  • What sessions look like

You and your therapist talk, calmly. Sometimes a pause or a change of subject helps, and that is fine.

  • How we work

Talk therapy that pays attention to trauma and to life between two countries. Your therapist explains the method and why they suggest it.

  • What it is not

It is not an emergency service and it does not prescribe medication. In a crisis, call 988; in an emergency, call 911.

  • Length and frequency

The first session lasts 60 minutes and the rest 50. Your therapist sets the pace with you.

  • How it is paid

With Medicaid, an insurance plan or a fee set by your income, given in writing before you start.

Questions

Three questions about this service

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Your therapist explains how they work, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and listens. At the end, the two of you decide whether to continue.

How often are sessions, and for how long?

Your therapist sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions: you can stop or change therapists whenever you like.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if there is a serious risk that someone will hurt themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your therapist may have to report it. We explain this in writing before you start.
